Garden Club

1 out of 4 children in Brazos County lack regular access to proper nutrition. We combat this lack of food security by hosting an edible gardening club, “Garden Club,” at the Boys & Girls Club of the Brazos Valley in downtown Bryan.

We have a pollinator-friendly garden in the front of the Boys & Girls Club and edible gardens in the rear.

We believe that teaching children to grow their own food can increase their likelihood for food , enhance self-esteem, improve social competence, and promote respect for others.

We participate in field trips, educational activities, and hand-on learning experiences.

At every meeting, we provide fresh, organic produce and healthy snacks. A group favorite is carrots, lettuce, broccoli, and pickles. They are adjusting their tastes for kale and spinach.

We feel honored to educate these children and the rewards never end.
